Privacy policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Kickstand collects when you use our website and mock tests, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. It follows South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who we are
Kickstand is a trading name of peopleMASSIV Employer Brand Lab CC, registration number 2010/142889/23.
30 Lakeview Estate, 113 Fraser Street, Groenvlei, Sedgefield 6573, South Africa
Information Officer: Samantha Rech ยท mandy@peoplemassive.com
We are the "responsible party" for your information, which means we decide how it is used and we are accountable for it.
You don't need an account
Kickstand has no sign-up and no password. When you first use it, you get a random Kickstand code. Your phone keeps it, and it's how your paid tries and results stay yours. We store only a scrambled version of the code, so we can't read it back.
What we collect
Always, when you use the tests:
- which test you take (car or motorbike), the questions you get, your answers, scores and times
- questions you flag as unclear, and any note you add
- technical details such as your IP address, used to keep the service secure and stop abuse
When you pay: payments go through PayFast. You type your card or bank details on PayFast's page, not ours, and we never see them. PayFast tells us the amount, whether it went through, and a payment reference.
Only if you choose to give them:
- your email address, so we can email you your results report, and your consent to that
- your first name, to put on your PDF report
- your province, city or school, and whether you want to appear in the Beat the clock rankings. Rankings show only your first name and the first letter of your surname, e.g. "Thandi M."
We don't use advertising trackers or tracking cookies. The website remembers your chosen test and look on your own device.
Why we use it
- to run your mock tests, mark them and show your results
- to unlock the tries you paid for
- to email your report, only if you ask
- to show the Beat the clock rankings, only if you opt in
- to improve the questions, using flags and overall results that don't identify you
- to keep financial records, as tax law requires
Where we rely on your consent (email, name, rankings), you can withdraw it at any time.
If you're under 18
Many learners are 16 or 17. POPIA protects children's information specially. If you're under 18, please only pay, give us your email or join the rankings if your parent or guardian has said you can. A parent or guardian can email us at any time to see or delete their child's information.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information, and we don't give it to anyone for their own marketing. We use these service providers to run Kickstand, and they may only use it to provide their service to us:
- PayFast, for payments
- Netlify, which hosts our website
- the company that hosts our servers and database
- the email service that sends reports
Some of these providers store information outside South Africa. We only use providers that are bound by data protection terms.
How long we keep it
- Your email, name and ranking details: until you delete them or ask us to, or after 2 years without any use.
- Payment records: for as long as tax law requires.
- Answers and scores: kept without your name or email, to improve the questions.
Your rights
You can ask us, free of charge, to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Use Delete my details in the app, or email mandy@peoplemassive.com. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa through its website, inforegulator.org.za.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If we start using advertising tracking on the website, we'll say so here first.
